Presenting a Book to its Heroes

On June 12, the Mayor of Kutaisi and the Kutaisi Newport International Association invited its members and friends - the most active participants of the last year’s June celebrations to a meeting held in the City Hall.
12 ივნისს ქალაქის მერმა და ქუთაისი ნიუპორტის საერთაშორისო ასოციაციამ თავისი წევრები და მეგობრები - გასული წლის ივნისის ღონისძიებების აქტიური მონაწილეები, ქალაქის მერიაში მიიწვია.
The guests were welcomed by the Mayor of Kutaisi Mr. Shota Murghulia and the Chair of KNIA Professor Madonna Megrelishvili. They were invited to attend the presentation of a new book “Kutaisi and Newport - Festival of Friendship” prepared and published by KNIA. The book covers all the events of last June celebration dedicated to the friendship between Kutaisi and Newport.
შეკრებილ საზოგადოებას ქალაქის მერი ბატონი შოთა მურღულია და ქნიას თავმჯდომარე პროფესორი მადონა მეგრელიშვილი მიესალმნენ. ისინი მოწვეული იყვნენ ქნიას მიერ მომზადებული წიგნის ,,ქუთაისი და ნიუპორტი - მეგობრობის ფესტივალი“ პრეზენტაციაზე. წიგნში თავმოყრილია ყველა ის ღონისძიება, რომელიც გასული წლის ივნისის თვეში ქუთაისისა და ნიუპორტის მეგობრობის იუბილის საზეიმოდ აღნიშვნას მიეძღვნა.
Brief introductory speeches by the Mayor of Kutaisi and Professor Madonna Megrelishvili were followed by a PowerPoint presentation that went over the book and brought back the warm memories of the celebration events.
ქალაქის მერისა და პროფესორ მადონა მეგრელიშვილის მისასალმებელ სიტყვებს თან მოჰყვა წიგნის პრეზენტაცია, რომელმაც შეკრებილ სტუმრებს თბილი მოგონებები აღუძრა და შარშანდელი ზეიმი კიდევ ერთხელ თბილად გაახსენა.
The presenters Associate Professors Nino Nijaradze and Maia Alavidze reviewed briefly the highlights of the book “Kutaisi and Newport - Festival of Friendship”. The audience had a chance to appreciate anew the scope and diversity of the events organized so well by KNIA. Everyone invited to the presentation had been involved in the celebration, but even so, they were not always aware of the activities taking place outside their own institution or sphere of interest. So, the book and the presentation not only made them feel appreciated for their contribution, but also showed them the full picture of the celebration.
წიგნის წარმდგენებმა, ასოცირებულმა პროფესორებმა ნინო ნიჟარაძემ და მაია ალავიძემ დამსწრე საზოგადოებას მოკლედ გააცნეს წიგნის „ქუთაისი და ნიუპორტი - მეგობრობის ფესტივალი“ მთავარი აქცენტები. შეკრებილ სტუმრებს საშუალება მიეცათ კიდევ ერთხელ შეეფასებინათ ღონისძიებათა ის მასშტაბი და მრავალფეროვნება, რომლის ორგანიზებაც ასე კარგად შეძლო ქუთაისი ნიუპორტის საერთაშორისო ასოციაციამ. პრეზენტაციაზე მოწვეული თითეული მათგანი აქტიურად იყო ჩაბმული ამ ზეიმის მსვლელობაში, მაგრამ მიუხედავად ამისა, მათ არ ქონდა საშუალება თვალი ედევნებინათ რა ხდებოდა სხვაგან იმ დროს, როცა მათ სფეროსა თუ დაწესებულებაში ესა თუ ის ღონისძიება იმართებოდა. ასე, რომ პრეზენტაციამ მათ შესაძლებლობა მისცა დაენახათ თავიანთი დიდი წვლილი ამ საერთო საქმეში და ამასთან, მთლიანობაში აღექვათ შარშანდელი ზეიმის საერთო სურათი.
Finally,
they all confirmed that the success of the June festival was the result of a joint effort.
Everyone was impressed with the book.
They all highlighted the quality of the publication and its tasteful design.
The guests thanked the authors for their tireless work.
At the end of the meeting,
the Mayor presented the book “Kutaisi and Newport - Festival of Friendship” to each of them.

რომ ივნისის ფესტივალის წარმატება სწორედ ერთობლივი ძალისხმევის შედეგი იყო.
წიგნმა დიდი შთაბეჭდილება მოახდინა შეკრებილ საზოგადოებაზე.
ყველამ ხაზგასმით აღნიშნა გამოცემის ხარისხი და მაღალი გემოვნებით შესრულებული დიზიანი.

The city and Lado Meskhishvili drama theatre get an unexpected present

When Kutaisi was celebrating the 25 th anniversary of Kutaisi Newport twinning and the foundation of the Kutaisi Newport International Association a lot of different interesting events were organized devoted to that occasion.
However the musical Pygmalion based on Bernard Show’s famous play directed by Giorgi Sikharulidze was of a particularly great interest.
It was a great challenge for the director and the cast of Lado Meskhishvili Drama Theatre to put on the musical.
The play and the musical Pygmalion had conquered the stages of the best world theatres.
Georgian audience also knows a wonderful film “My Fair Lady” based on the musical.
The idea of staging the musical belonged to the KNIA but it could not have been realized without the support of the Honorary President of the Association,
the Mayor of Kutaisi Shota Murgulia.
The premiere was a great success which was also admitted by the guests from Newport who are great connoisseurs of theatre art.
Dame Rosemary Butler said that “Pygmalion was terrific! It was the world Premiere”.
UK Ambassador to Georgia Alexandra Hall Hall who was also greatly impressed by the performance expressed her gratitude to the director and the whole cast by inviting them to the reception in the hotel “Bagrati”.
A few months later that event had an interesting continuation.
The teacher of the KNIA English Language Centre and Public School 9 Madlen Giorgadze made a remarkable present to the city and the theatre.
როდესაც 2016 წლის ივნისის თვეში ქუთაისმა აღნიშნა ნიუპორტთან მეგობრობის და ქუთაისი–ნიუპორტის საერთაშორისო ასოციაციის დაფუძნების 25 წლისთავი ჩვენს ქალაქში არა ერთი საინტერესო ღონისძიება გაიმართა.
მაგრამ განსაკუთრებით უნდა აღინიშნოს მესხიშვილის თეატრის სცენაზე,
გიორგი სიხარულიძის მიერ დადგმული ბერნარდ შოს ,,პიგმალიონი“.
ინგლისურენოვანი მიუზიკლის დადგმა მესხიშვილის თეატრში დიდი გამოწვევა იყო როგორც რეჟისორისათვის,
ისე მსახიობებისათვის.
თავად პიესა ,,პიგმალიონმა და შემდეგ მის მიხედვით შექმნილმა მიუზიკლმა მსოფლიოს საუკეთესო სცენები დაიპყრო.
ქართველი მაყურებლისათვის ასევე ცნობილია სწორედ ამ მიუზიკლის მიხედვით გადაღებული არაჩვეულებრივი ფილმი ,,ჩემი მშვენიერი ლედი".
დადგმის იდეა ქუთაისი ნიუპორტის საერთაშორისო ასოციაციას ეკუთვნოდა,
და რა თქმა უნდა,
ეს პროექტი ვერ განხორციელდებოდა თუ არა ასოციაციის საპატიო პრეზიდენტის,
ქუთაისის მერის შოთა მურღულიას მხარდაჭერა.
პრემიერას დიდი წარმატება ხვდა წილად,
მან ტრიუმფით ჩაიარა.
ეს ნამდვილად არ იყო მარტივი,
სპექტაკლის მაყურებლები,
ნიუპორტიდან ჩამოსული სტუმრები დახვეწილი გემოვნების მქონე,
თეატრის დიდი თაქვანისმცემლები არიან.
როგორც დამა როზმარი ბატლერმა აღნიშნა ეს იყო ,,მსოფლიო პრემიერა“,
ხოლო ბრიტანეთის ელჩმა საქართველოში ალექსანდრა ჰოლ ჰოლმა მადლიერების ნიშნად მთელ დასს განსაკუთრებულად გულთბილი მიღება მოუწყო სასტუმრო ,,ბაგრატის" ტერასაზე.
რამდენიმე თვეში კი ამ ამბავს საინტერესო გაგრძელება მოჰყვა.
ქუთაისი ნიუპორტის საერთაშორისო ასოციაციის მიერ დაარსებული ინგლისური ენის ცენტრის მასწავლებელმა ქალბატონმა მადლენ გიორგაძემ,
რომელიც ასევე მე-9 საჯარო სკოლაში მოღვაწეობს,
მესხიშვილის სახელობის თეატრსა და მთელს ქალაქს არაჩვეულებრივი საჩუქარი მოუმზადა.
She became an author of a very nice booklet telling the reader about Bernard Shaw,
his play Pygmalion,
its plot and the characters.
There is also information about the director of the play,
the actors who brilliantly performed their roles.
The booklet also comments on the performance made by the guests from Newport and some famous Kutaisians.
In April,
Madlen Giorgadze and her bright pupils attended one of the performances of Pygmalion.
At the end of the musical they went onto the stage holding booklets and beautiful flowers in their hands to greet their favorite actors and once again congratulate them on their success.
There is need to say that the theatre now has found its future devoted audience.
On behalf of all members of the Kutaisi Assosiation I would like to thank Madlen Giorgadze,
a representative of a large and well known Kutaisi family,
for her wonderful idea and creativity in realizing such an interesting project.

რომელიც მოგვითხრობს ბერნარდ შოზე,
მის პიესაზე,
პიესის სიუჟეტსა და პერსონაჯებზე,
მიუზიკლის „პიგმალიონი“ პრემიერაზე ქუთაისის ლადო მესხიშვილის სახელობის დარამატულ თეატრში,
დამდგმელ რეჟისორსა და,
რათქმაუნდა,
ნიჭიერ მსახიობებზე,
რომლებმაც შესანიშნავად შეასრულეს მათზე დაკისრებული რთული ამოცანა.
ბუკლეტი ასევე აცნობს მკითხველს ქუთაისის ცნობილი ადამიანებისა და ნიუპორტელი სტუმრების გამოხმაურებას მიუზიკლის დადგმის შესახებ.
აპრილის თვეში მადლენი და მისი ნიჭიერი მოსწავლეები ესწრებოდნენ მიუზიკლის კიდევ ერთ წარმატებულ ჩვენებას.
სპექტაკლის დამთავრებისას ყვავილების თაიგულებითა და ბუკლეტებით ხელში ისინი სცენაზე ავიდნენ და კიდევ ერთხელ მიულოცეს წარმატება თეატრის მსახიობებს.
უდავოა,
რომ ჩვენმა თეატრმა შეიძინა მომავალი ერთგული მაყურებელი.
მინდა ასოციაციის სახელით კიდევ ერთხელ გადავუხადო მადლობა არაჩვეულებრივ ქალბატონს დიდი ლამაზი ოჯახის წარმომადგენელს მადლენ გიორგაძეს ასეთი საინტერესო და ნაყოფიერი პროექტის განხორციელებისათვის.
It’s commonly known that a lot of successful performances have been put on by the famous Georgian directors with the participation of the most favorite actors on the stage of our Drama Theatre. Regretfully there is no evidence of them in the theatre archives, neither photos no programmes. The performance of Pygmalion will remain in the history of our city and the theatre and will be known for the generations to come thanks to the booklet “Pygmalion” made by Madlen Giorgadze.
ვიცით, რომ მესხიშვილის თეატრის სცენაზე უამრავი წარმატებული სპექტაკლი დაუდგამთ სახელგანთქმულ ქართველ რეჟისორებს, რომლებშიც მონაწილეობდნენ ყველასათვის ცნობილი და საყვარელი ქართველი მსახიობები. სამწუხაროდ ამ სპექტაკლების შემდეგ ცოტა რამ დარჩა, არც სურათები, არც პროგრამები ან რაიმე არქივი. ამ ბუკლეტის მეშვეობით ეს ინგლისურენოვანი მუზიკლი დარჩება ჩვენი თეატრისა და ქუთაისის ისტორიაში მომავალ თაობებს.
