In this first newsletter of 2018 we provide you with a glimpse of events which we enjoyed in December. These already well-established activities were successful and we would like to thank all those who organized them and got involved.
2018 წლის გაზეთის პირველ ნომერში შემოგთავაზებთ დეკემბრის იმ ღონისძიებების მოკლე მიმოხილვას, რომელთაც დიდი სიამოვნება მოგვანიჭეს. უკვე ტრადიციად ქცეულმა ღონისძიებებმა ძალიან წარმატებულად ჩაიარა და გვინდა მადლობა ვუთხრათ ყველა ორგანიზატორსა და მონაწილეს.
University Language Centre Celebrate New Year

Akaki Tsereteli State University Language Centre was established in 2011 as a follow-up of the reorganization of the Faculty of Humanitiesto to upgrade language teaching and ensure better coordination in the university.
The Language Centre consists of four language directions English,
German,
French and Russian and directs the teaching of foreign languages throughout the university academic programmes including compulsory,
as well as optional courses in the provided languages and also in Italian.
The Center employs highly selective professionals with training experience of international standards.
The Language Centre actively participates in the implementation of international relations,
as well as other important innovative programmes of ATSU.
The University Language Centre provides high standards of language proficiency through competitive staff,
regularly updated methodology and multiple extracurricular activities.
On December 25,
2017,
a New Year concert organized by the Language Centre was held in the university assembly hall.
University students learning English,
Russian,
German,
French and Italian languages took part in the event presenting individual diverse programmes which illustrated their creative talents alongside with language skills and perfect knowledge of different cultures.
The students showed how Christmas and New Year are celebrated in the countries,
the language of which they study,
in an entertaining way accompanying the performance with traditional and modern Christmas and New Year songs and dances.
The repertoire also included some comedy sketches which filled the audience with joy laughter creating happy holiday disposition in the audience.
At the end all participants performed a song in chorus.
The sounds of different languages added a special spirit to the whole event.
It is noteworthy that organizing and participating in the performance was a great way for students to socialize and make new friends.
No need to say that it also contributed a lot to integration of students of different faculties.
The New Year performance organized by the University Language Centre was attended by university authorities,
teachers and students of different faculties.
The audience was full of impressions and excitement and greeted the participants with huge applauses.
The University Language Centre is an initiator of many interesting events,
and it is determined to continue this tradition in the future.
აკაკი წერეთლის სახელმწიფო უნივერსიტეტის ენათა ცენტრი შეიქმნა 2011 წელს ჰუმანიტარულ მეცნიერებათა ფაკულტეტზე ჩატარებული რეორგანიზაციის საფუძველზე,
უნივერსიტეტის მასშტაბით ენების სწავლების დონის ამაღლებისა და კოორდინაციის მიზნით.
იგი აერთიანებს ოთხ მიმართულებას ინგლისურ,
გერმანულ,
ფრანგულ და რუსულ ენებში.
ენათა ცენტრი კურირებას უწევს უცხო ენების როგორც სავალდებულო,
ისე არჩევითი კურსების სწავლებას უნივერსიტეტის მასშტაბით.
იგი ასევე სთავაზობს სტუდენტებს იტალიური ენის შესწავლას ,,თავისუფალი კრედიტის“ ფორმატით.
ენათა ცენტრში დასაქმებულია მაღალკვალიფიციური სპეციალისტები,
რომელთაც მიღებული აქვთ საერთაშორისო რანგის პროფესიული გადამზადება.
ენათა ცენტრი აქტიურად არის ჩართული ჩვენი უნივერსიტეტის საერთაშორისო კონტაქტებში და ინოვაციური პროგრამების განხორციელებაში.
აკაკი წერეთლის სახელმწიფო უნივერსიტეტის ჰუმანიტარულ მეცნიერებათა ფაკულტეტის ენათა ცენტრი მაღალპროფესიონალური კადრით,
თანამედროვე სწავლების მეთოდებით და მრავალფეროვანი არასააუდიტორიო აქტივობებით უცხო ენების მაღალ დონეზე დაუფლების საშუალებას იძლევა.
2017 წლის 25 დეკემბერს უნივერსიტეტის სააქტო დარბაზში ენათა ცენტრის მიერ ორგანიზებული საახალწლო ღონისძიება გაიმართა.
ღონისძიებაში მონაწილეობას იღებდნენ უნივერსიტეტის სხვადასხვა ფაკულტეტის სტუდენტები.
მათ წარმოადგინეს მრავალფეროვანი პროგრამა ინგლისურ,
რუსულ,
გერმანულ,
ფრანგულ და იტალიურ ენებზე,
რამაც წარმოაჩინა ახალგაზრდების შემოქმედებითი ნიჭი,
ენობრივი უნარ-ჩვევები და განსხვავებული კულტურული რეალიების ცოდნა.
სტუდენტებმა ხალისიანად წარმოადგინეს თუ როგორ აღინიშნება შობისა და ახალი წლის დღესასწაულები იმ ქვეყნებში,
რომელთა ენებსაც ეუფლებიან.
ისინი ასრულებდნენ როგორც ტრადიციულ,
ისე თანამედროვე საშობაო და საახალწლო სიმღერებსა და ცეკვებს.
ღონისძიება არც იუმორის ნაკლებობას განიცდიდა.
იუმორისტულმა ნომრებმა დარბაზში მხიარულება შემოიტანა და სადღესასწაულო განწყობა შექმნა.
საახალწლო კონცერტის დასკვნით ნაწილში სტუდენტებმა ერთობლივი სიმღერა შესთავაზეს დამსწრე საზოგადოებას.
უცხო ენების განსხვავებულმა ჟღერადობამ ღონისძიებას განსაკუთრებული ხიბლი შემატა.
აღსანიშნავია,
რომ ღონისძიებისათვის მზადებამ და მასში მონაწილეობამ ხელი შეუწყო სხვადასხვა ფაკულტეტების სტუდენტთა ინტეგრაციას და ახალი მეგობრული ურთიერთობების განვითარებას ჩაუყარა საფუძველი.
ენათა ცენტრის მიერ ორგანიზებულ ღონისძიებას ესწრებოდნენ უნივერსიტეტის ადმინისტრაციის წარმომადგენლები,
ლექტორ-მასწავლებლები და სტუდენტები.
ღონისძიების ბოლოს შთაბეჭდილებებით სავსე დამსწრე საზოგადოებამ მქუხარე აპლოდისმენტებით დააჯილდოვა მონაწილეები.
აკაკი წერეთლის სახელმწიფო უნივერსიტეტის ენათა ცენტრი არა ერთი საინტერესო წამოწყების ავტორია და ის მომავალშიც გააგრძელებს აღნიშნულ ტრადიციას.

The Last Chord of the Year 2017 in the English Speaking Club

The English Speaking Club (ESC) at ATSU English Philology Department is nearly 50 years old.
The tradition of admitting first-year students to the Club membership is a chronicle of many interesting meetings.
In the past few years,
this event has become even more large-scale and celebratory for all the freshmen majoring in English.
The annual meeting was held on November 28 th.
It was also attended by senior students and teachers of EPD who congratulated the first-year students on joining the English Speaking Club.
At the event,
our students presented their amateur activities,
took the Club oath and promised to use the knowledge acquired at the University for the prosperity of our nation.
აწსუ-ს ინგლისური ფილოლოგიის დეპარტამენტთან არსებული ინგლისური ენის კლუბი თითქმის 50 წლისაა.
კლუბში პირველკურსელი სტუდენტების გაწევრიანების ტრადიცია მრავალი საინტერესო შეხვედრის მემეტიანეა.
ბოლო წლებში,
ეს ღონისძიება კიდევ უფრო ფართომასშტაბიანი და საზეიმო გახდა ინგლისური ენის სპეციალობის პირველი კურსის სტუდენტებისთვის.
ყოველწლიური შეხვედრა გაიმართა 28 ნოემბერს,
რომელსაც აგრეთვე ესწრებოდნენ უფროსკურსელები და ინგლისური ფილოლოგიის დეპარტამენტის აკადემიური პერსონალი.
მათ ჩვენს პირველკურსელებს კლუბის წევრად გახდომა მიულოცეს.
ღონისძიებაზე სტუდენტებმა წარმოადგინეს სხვადასხვა სამოყვარულო აქტივობები,
დადეს კლუბის ფიცი და პირობა,
რომ უნივერსიტეტში შეძენილ ცოდნას გამოიყენებენ ჩვენის ერის საკეთილდღეოდ.
Then on December 27 th,
the ceremony of admitting new members was followed by another event – a New Year party.
It has also been a tradition for many years to happily see off the past year and welcome the new in the festive company of friends and teachers in the beautifully decorated club room.
It was an outstanding evening filled with joy,
happy expectations and New Year gifts.
The current president of the Club,
Nita Khachidze,
opened the ceremony.
After her
greeting,
the vice-president Tamuna Narimanishvili and other members of the English Speaking Club talked about some of the local and international New Year traditions,
demonstrated their English language skills and congratulated the audience on the coming year with their diverse activities.
Participating Nigerian,
Turkish and Chinese students added a special flavour to the party.
ახალი წევრების მიღების ცერემონიას მოჰყვა კიდევ ერთი - საახალწლო წვეულება,
რომელიც ჩატარდა 27 დეკემბერს.
კლუბის საზეიმოდ მორთულ ოთახში მეგობრების და მასწავლებლების მხიარულ გარემოცვაში გასული წლის ბედნიერად გაცილებას და ახალი წლის დახვედრას ასევე მრავალწლიანი ტრადიცია აქვს.
ეს იყო სიხარულით,
ბედნიერი სურვილებით და საახალწლო საჩუქრებით გამთბარი საღამო,
რომელიც გახსნა კლუბის ამჟამინდელმა პრეზიდენტმა,
ნიტა ხაჩიძემ.
მისი მისასალმებელი სიტყვის შემდეგ,
კლუბის ვიცე-პრეზიდენტმა თამუნა ნარიმანიშვილმა და სხვა წევრებმა ისაუბრეს ზოგიერთი ადგილობრივი და საერთაშორისო საახალწლო ტრადიციის შესახებ,
წარმოაჩინეს ინგლისური ენის ცოდნა და თავიანთი მრავალფეროვანი ნომრებით მიულოცეს დამსწრე საზოგადოებას დამდეგი ახალი წელი.
ნიგერიელი,
თურქი და ჩინელი სტუდენტების მონაწილეობამ კი ღონისძიებას კიდევ უფრო განსაკუთრებული ხიბლი შესძინა.
The ceremony was attended by guests of honour,
Kutaisi rugby representatives,
Dimitri
Pularia (manager of the AIA rugby school) and David Nemsadze (AIA’s S&C coach).
Representing rugby as one of the links of Kutaisi Newport relations,
they were invited to visit Newport to attend the match between Georgia and Wales held in Cardiff on November 18 th.
They shared with us the positive emotions and joy of this fantastic visit,
answered the undergraduates’ questions and expressed hope that thanks to the Club,
students’ knowledge will be useful for our town and most importantly for our country,
which as ever needs educated and professional patriots and can benefit from our considerable skills.
At the end of the event,
two third year students Mari Surmava and Teo Gachechiladze,
members of the Translation Section of the Club received the James and Connie Thorson Money Award for the best translation of Kurt Vonnegut’s story More Stately
Mansions into Georgian.
The award was handed to them by the head of literature studies Tamar Kobeshavidze.
დამსწრეთა შორის იყვნენ ჩვენი საპატიო სტუმრები,
ქუთაისის რაგბის წარმომადგენლები,
დიმიტრი ფულარია („რაგბის სკოლა აია“-ს ხელმძღვანელი) და დავით ნემსაძე („აია“-ს S&C მწვრთნელი).
როგორც ქუთაისი ნიუპორტის ურთიერთობის ერთ-ერთი რგოლის,
რაგბის წარმომადგენლები,
ისინი მიწვევით ესტუმრნენ ნიუპორტს,
რათა დასწრებოდნენ 18 ნოემბერს,
კარდიფში გამართულ რაგბის მატჩს საქართველოსა და უელსს შორის.
მათ გაგვიზიარეს ის დადებითი ემოციები და სიხარული,
რაც თან ახლდა ამ ვიზიტს,
უპასუხეს სტუდენტების შეკითხვებს და იმედი გამოთქვეს,
რომ კლუბის წყალობით,
სტუდენტების ცოდნა გამოსადეგი იქნება ქალაქისთვის და,
რაც მთავარია,
ჩვენი ქვეყნისთვის,
რომელსაც მუდმივად ესაჭიროება განათლებული და პროფესიონალი პატრიოტები და სარგებელი ჩვენი მნიშვნელოვანი უნარ-ჩვევებისგან.
ღონისძიების ბოლოს,
კლუბის მთარგმნელობითი წრის წევრი ორი სტუდენტი დასაჩუქრდა ჯეიმს და კონი ტორსონების სახელობის ფულადი ჯილდოთი კურტ ვონეგუტის მოთხრობის “More Stately Mansions“ საუკეთესო ქართული თარგმანისთვის.
გამარჯვებულებს ჯილდო გადასცა ლიტერატურის მიმართულების ხელმძღვანელმა თამარ კობეშავიძემ.
The meeting made it obvious once again that the English Speaking Club is one of the most splendid aspects of university life – a guarantee of professional and personal growth.
შეხვედრამ კიდევ ერთხელ ცხადყო, რომ ინგლისური ენის კლუბი თითოეული სტუდენტისთვის წარმოადგენს ერთ-ერთ ყველაზე ნათელ მოვლენას საუნივერსიტეტო ცხოვრებაში - პროფესიული და პიროვნული წინსვლის გარანტს.

The English Language Centre of KNIA hosted one more traditional New Year party.
Its usual rhythm and joy were the background of the day.
The beautifully decorated building of the centre was filled with a festive mood since morning.
All had happy expectations waiting for the start of the party with great enthusiasm.
The students,
dressed up in different costumes,
felt a great responsibility for their performance.
They succeeded in doing it perfectly and got applauses from the audience.
At the end of the party all participants received New Year gifts.
There was an especially exciting moment when one of the students Luka Okropirashvili got a one-month free tuition as a gift.
Among the guests were also former students of the Centre.
They and our current students always come up with new ideas which make our lives more colourful and diverse and also create a friendly atmosphere for studying the language.
All students and teachers of the centre enjoyed the the day which was filled with laughter,
beautiful songs,
dances and jokes greatly.

ჩვეული რიტმი და მხიარულება კვლავაც შენარჩუნებული იყო.
დილიდანვე სიცილნარევმა ჟრიამულმა აავსო ცენტრის კედლები.
არაჩვეულებრივი განწყობა იღვრებოდა თითოეული ადამიანისგან და უჩვეულო ეიფორიით ელოდა ყველა წვეულების დაწყებას.
სხვადასხვა საახალწლო ფორმაში გამოწყობილი ცენტრის ყველა მოსწავლე უდიდეს პასუხისმგებლობას გრძნობდა თავისი ნომრის შესრულებისას.
მათ არაჩვეულებრივად გაართვეს თავი ამ მისიას და დიდი ტაში და ოვაცია დაიმსახურეს დამსწრე საზოგადოებისგან.
წვეულების ბოლოს ტრადიციულად ყველა მონაწილემ მიიღო საახალწლო საჩუქარი.
განსაკუთრებით ამაღელვებელი მომენტი იყო,
როდესაც ერთ-ერთმა მოსწავლემ ლუკა ოქროპირაშვილმა საჩუქრად მიიღო ერთთვიანი უფასო სწავლება.
სტუმრებს შორის იყვნენ ცენტრის ყოფილი სტუდენტებიც.
სწორედ ეს ახალგაზრდები,
ცენტრის ამჟამინდელ სტუდენტებთან ერთად,
თავიანთი ინოვაციური იდეებით ცხოვრებას უფრო ფერადს,
მრავალფეროვანსა და ლაღს ხდიან და ქმნიან მეგობრულ,
თბილ გარემოს ენის სწავლისთვის.
ამ დღემ,
რომელიც სავსე იყო სიცილით,
ლამაზი სიმღერებით,
ცეკვებითა და ხუმრობებით უდიდესი სიამოვნება მიანიჭა ცენტრის ყველა სტუდენტსა და მასწავლებელს.
