Kutaisi Newport International Association held an informative meeting with the Mayor of Kutaisi, Ioseb Khakhaleishvili who is the president of the association at the same time. The aim of the meeting was to inform the KNIA board about the fact that the executive board of Newport Kutaisi Twinning Association has been renewed. David Megrelishvili, the chairman of the association, introduced the changes to the Mayor and to the attendees.
ქუთაისი ნიუპორტის საერთაშორისო ასოციაციამ საანგარიშო შეხვედრა გამართა ქ. ქუთაისის მერთან, რომელიც ამავე დროს ასოციაციის პრეზიდენტია. მერს და დამსწრე საზოგადოებას ასოციაციის თავმჯდომარემ დავით მეგრელიშვილმა ნიუპორტი ქუთაისის დამეგობრებულ ასოციაციის საორგანიზაციო საბჭოში განხორციელებული ცვლილებები გააცნო.
Ms. Shirley Egley was elected as the chairman of the association.
Kutaisi Newport International Association congratulates Ms. Shirley on this honorable position and expresses sincere readiness for future cooperation.
Both associations are enthusiastic about the future development of twinning.
კერძოდ, ასოციაციის თავმჯდომარედ არჩეული იქნა ქ-ნი შერლი ეგლი. ქუთასი ნიუპორტის საერთაშორისო ასოციაცია ულოცავს ქ-ნ შერლის ამ საპატიო თანამდებობას და გულწრფელ მზაობას გამოხატავს მომავალი თანამშრომლობისთვის.

The associations have interesting plans, among which we would highlight the school project, where children from Kutaisi and Newport introduce their cities and schools to each other. The 23rd secondary school of Kutaisi and the Llanwern High School in Newport are involved in the project, the video material of whose activities you have already seen in the previous newsletter.
ასოციაციას საინტერესო გეგმები აქვს, რომელთაგანაც გამოვყოფდით სასკოლო პროექტს, სადაც ქუთაისელი და ნიუპორტელი ბავშვები ერთმანეთს აცნობენ თავიანთ ქალაქებსა და სკოლებს. პროექტში ჩართულია ქუთაისის 23-ე საშუალო სკოლა და ნიუპორტის ლანვერნის სკოლა, რომელთა საქმიანობის ამსახველი ვიდეო მასალა თქვენ უკვე იხილეთ წინა ნიუზლეთერში. პროექტი ქუთაისის N 23 საშუალო სკოლასა და Llanwern საშუალო სკოლას შორის გრძელდება. ნიუპორტ-ქუთაისის პროექტის ფარგლებში, საფუძველი ჩაეყარა ორ სკოლას შორის ახალგაზრდული კლუბის დაარსებას და მნიშვნელოვანი სამომავლო გეგმებს.
The project between Kutaisi N 23 secondary school and Llanwern High School continues.
Within the framework of the Newport-Kutaisi project,
the foundations were laid for the establishment of a youth club and important future plans between the two schools.
On the assumption that we are continuing next year,
Llarwenrn High School has added a second teacher specialising in English.
This would mean that there would be two separate groups one focusing on art and music and the other on English.
Both teachers would be part of our group so that there would be an exchange of ideas.
The school will set up an extracurricular group which could be called the Georgian Society or Friends of Kutaisi or even the youth wing of NKTA.
Kuatisi School is will also set up another group focusing on English literature.
The aim of the link is to give some continuity and develop longer term relationships.
We would like to thank Mr. Colin Mason for preparing a brief history of twinning that gave representatives of both schools an idea of the unique relationship between our two cities.

Llarwenrn-ის საშუალო სკოლას დაემატა მეორე მასწავლებელი ინგლისური ენის სპეციალობით.
ეს ნიშნავს,

ერთი ფოკუსირებული ხელოვნებასა და მუსიკაზე,
ხოლო მეორე ინგლისურზე.
სკოლაში შეიქმნება კლასგარეშე ჯგუფი,
რომელსაც შეიძლება ეწოდოს ქართული საზოგადოება ან ქუთაისის მეგობრები ან თუნდაც NKTA-ს ახალგაზრდული ფრთა.
ქუთაისის სკოლაში ასევე შეიქმნება სხვა ჯგუფი,
რომელიც ორიენტირებული იქნება ინგლისურ ლიტერატურაზე.
პროექტის მიზანია,
ხელი შეუწყოს გრძელვადიანი ურთიერთობების უწყვეტობას და განვითარებას.
გვინდა, მადლობა გადავუხადოთ ბ-ნ კოლინ მეისონს დამეგობრების ამსახველი მოკლე ისტორიის მომზადებისთვის,
რომელმაც ორივე სკოლის წარმომადგენლებს წარმოდგენა შეუქმნა ორ ქალაქს შორის არსებულ უნიკალურ ურთიერთობაზე.

A woman who set the standards - under this name an amazing event was dedicated to the memory of Madonna Megrelishvili.
It was not usual but absolutely brilliant evening like the addressee of the event Ms. Madonna.
All the details were organized carefully taking into account all the rare standards set by Ms. Madonna.
Everything was full of love, miss and warmth to her that made the whole event perfect.
Opening her memorial board at her house was especially emotional moment.
Lovely twins symbolically opened the board as a proof that life continues.

Another sentimental moment was online meeting with our British and Georgian friends from abroad who remembered Madonna with great love.
English Philology Department presented a book that is a compilation of letters to Madonna from her friends and colleagues appreciating her hard work and dedication to work whose aim was to create and ensure the prosperity of her town and nation.
A famous composer Levan Shengelia performed a piece of music dedicated to Madonna Megrelishvili.
The music full of stormy charisma and tenderness made us remember strong,
brave,
risky,
determined and at the same time childishly naïve and tender Madonna Megrelishvili and everyone in silent tears expressed their respect and love to her while listening to the musical composition.
The film dedicated to Newport Kutaisi Twinning made us remember the lovely period when we had the great opportunity and pleasure to work with Madonna to support the strengthening of twinning between Kutaisi and Newport as a model of unique friendship between two cities.

Tsitsino Babukhadia was one of the honourable members of the Kutaisi Newport International aAssociation who spared no time and efforts to help our students well-educated and successful, to strengthen the links of friendship between Welsh and Georgian people. Her home door was always open to host our dear friends from Newport. We will never forget those memorable parties held in her family. She used to say that this close relationship between two nations would achieve its goal to make our English language education in Kutaisi progressive. Tsitsino Babukhadia was always in the center of the events organized by our teachers’ staff and participated in English Teachers’ conferences where our guests from Newport presented their sessions on design and curriculum planning.
ციცინო ბაბუხადია ერთი იმათგანი იყო ქუთაის-ნიუპორტის ასოციაციიდან, ვინც ძალღონეს არ იშურებდა იმისათვის, რომ გვყოლოდა განათლებული და წარმატებული სტუდენტები, ქართველ ერს ჰქონოდა ძლიერი კავშირები უელსელებთან. მისი კერა ყოველთვის მასპინძლობდა ნიუპორტელ სტუმრებს, სადაც იმართებოდა დაუვიწყარი საღამოები. ხშირად იტყოდა, რომ ჩვენი ორი ერის მეგობრობა თავის მიზანს მიაღწევდა. მიზანი კი უპირველესად ქუთაისში ინგლისური ენის წარმატებული სწავლება გახლდათ. ციცინო ყოველთვის იმ მოვლენეთა ცენტრში იყო, რომელსაც ჩვენი მასწავლებლთა გუნდი აწყობდა. იგი მონაწილეობდა ინგლისურის მასწავლებელთა მოსამზადებელ კონფერენციებში, სადაც ჩვენი ნიუპორტელი სტუმრები სესიების დიზაინსა და კურიკულომების შედგენას განიხილავდნენ.
Unfortunately,
we can speak about the past life of three remarkable persons of our Time.
We don’t have the founder of Kutaisi Newport International Association – Madonna Megrelishvili,
Caroline McLachlan – the chair of Newport-Kutaisi Association,
and Tsitsino Babukhadia who did all her best to support them in a great deeds.
I hope that the work done by these people,
who are very dear to all of us,
will further improve the English language teaching quality in Kutaisi,
keep the warm relationship that exists between our nations,
and thus we will make a great contribution to the well-being of the people of the world.

10th Anniversary of the Language Center
ენების შემსწავლელი ცენტრის 10 წლის იუბილე
On July 14, 2022, the 10th anniversary of the Language Center was celebrated at Akaki Tsereteli State University. The Rector of the University, representatives of the administration, services, and departments attended the event.
2022 წლის 14 ივლისს აკაკი წერეთლის სახელმწიფო უნივერსიტეტში აღინიშნა ენების შემსწავლელი ცენტრის 10 წლის იუბილე. ღონისძიებას ესწრებოდნენ უნივერსიტეტის რექტორი, ადმინისტრაციის, სამსახურების და დეპარტამენტების წარმომადგენლები.
The head of the Language Center, Assoc. Professor Natia Zviadadze, informed the audience about the activities held through 10 years and the future plans of the Language Center. Along with the informative part, the event included fun activities as well in which the attending public was actively involved. On the anniversary day, colleagues remembered and expressed their respect for professors and teachers, whose work was connected with the Language Center in the last years of their lives. It was noted that they left a deep mark in the history of the University. At the end of the event, the Rector of the University, Professor Roland Kopaliani, gave certificates of appreciation to the meritorious teachers of the Language Center. The event ended with the sharing of future perspectives and wishes.
